The documentary
2012 vividly shows what happens when rapid onset orogeny breaks out. One day you're yelling at the kids on your lawn, the next, you're scaling the Matterhorn to get the paper--with the constant worry of avalanches.
Present day Los
Angeles still shows the effects of the devastation, although it’s hard to
determine what damage occurred during the Mayan Apocalypse and what was caused by George Bush.
Thank God, a full
union crew and Oscar worthy actors were present during the cataclysm or we
wouldn’t have captured this compelling documentary. It is a witness to what happens when
mankind neglects geology and denies adequate funding for the discipline.
The
Journal of Terrifying Geologic Possibilities: the
publication doing for geology what global warming did for climatology.
