For God's sake people do something, before its too late!

On February 20th 1943 Dionisio Pulido, a man outstanding in his field, witnessed the birth of the volcano Paricutin. 251 million years to the day before flood basalts poured out of the Siberian traps triggering the Permian–Triassic extinction event or “Great Dying” as scientist call it.

Could the same thing happen to you?

Yes, at any moment the earth could open at your feet and suck you into a magmatic caldron. For the sake of your family do at least this minimum of preparation:

1) Stockpile enough food, clothing and supplies sufficient for the duration of the emergency. Enough for 1.5 million years should be enough.

2) You'll need asbestos pants.

3) Prepare a shelter that can resist sustained temperatures of 700 degrees, either Fahrenheit or centigrade, I forget which.

4) Write your congressman, pester your neighbors and send Emails to everyone demanding more research money for geologists and their friends. Make sure your caps lock is on SO EVERYONE WILL KNOW YOU'RE SHOUTING!

This is important, do it now. The science is settled, A VOLCANO CAN ERUPT ANYWHERE!

The Journal of Terrifying Geologic Possibilities: the publication doing for geology what global warming did for climatology.
